The Music Show

On Saturday, the 12th of November 2011, Home School Chipata hosted a Music show. The teacher was Mary Emmanuelle Roy, the students were Sean Pluger, Filippo Carretta, Kay Kelsey Urguhart, Sarah Joy Breytenbach, Dorothy Mainza Cole, Emily Taonga Cole, Ben Ezio Bonnizzi and me. The preparetions for the show had began in March and so each of us were given a piece. I did the song "Dance" on a flute. I was accompained by Marie who also played the flute. Sean did "Where Is Thumbkin" on the bells. He was accompained by his mum who also did the bells. Kay did "The Passengers" on the ukellele and sang it. Sarah, Emily, Dorothy and me did "Oh When The Saints". I had to do "Oh When The Saints" on the recorder while the others sang it. Afterwards Ben did "Au Claire De La Lune" on the recorder. Last but not least Fili (Filippo's nickname, he also has felichi steak as his nickname) did "Air De Buffon" on the flute accompained by Marie that also played the flute. Then Kay's father Gordon wanted to play the guitar and sing. So we let him and he did a very interesting and nice song that unfortunately I forgot the title. Then Marie choose 9 adults to paticipate in the music show. Marie would ask us all (Adults and Children) questions and we had to answer as fast as possible if you answered correct you got a point for your team (There were the team of adults and the team of children). The adults won 17-15. Later there was supper for everyone pizza and drinks. Then every child went into the football camp to play.
We all had a great time.

My Birthday

Hi people of world! It's a long time since I've written to you, but now here I am. It's D.C.D., Damiano.
Recently it was my birthday and I become 11 years old. We had the party on Wednesday 28th of September. My real birthday was on 29th of September.
When we had the party there were many people. We got presents, but the best part of it was playing with my friends, playing in the pool and outside on the swing and the cakes!
My friends were Ben, Sean, Shara, Kay Emily and Dorothy.
We played games in the pool sach as "Marco Polo", "Octopus", "Buldog" and sometimes splash-fightd or tricks in the pool.

If you don't know how they work then I'm going to tell you:

OCTOPUS works like this: one person is in the middle of the pool, the others are outside the pool. The person in the middle says "ocotpus",the kids outside have to swim across to the other side of the pool without the person in the middle catching them. If the person in the middle does catch them, then they stay rooted to the spot and try to catch the others. The game goes on until there is only one kid left outside.

I think you know MARCO POLO: everybody are in the pool, one person has to close his eys and say "marco", the person next to him have to say "polo". The person with the eyes closed has to
chase them, the kids saying "polo"have to run awayfrom him. The person with the eyes closed has two frogy eyes. Frogy eyes are when you can go under water and see for until you have to go up for air.

BULLDOG is the same as "octopus" only the person in the middle has to say "bulldog" then the kids outside can swim across the pool. the second rule of "bulldog" is that when someone is coughthe can move and doesn't need to stay rooted to the spot but still needs to catch people.

After all this fun, came the presents and the sweets. For my birthday I received: a computer game, 4 books, a torch light, 2 cards and a t-shirt.
On my real birthday we invited our friends over for dinner and we received new presents.
I had loads of fun on my birthday!

Italians make their Visit

Hi guys it's me Giuseppe!

OK I have some good news and some bad news The good news:My cousins came down from Italy for their very first time with my grandmother to visit us:).The bad news :I only had two weeks with them:(.OK so they came a week before school finished so yeah you get the point. Manu my cousin like it so much that next year he'll come down for 3 whole months and when he grows up he wants to be a farmer.WOW.

A few days after school finished we decided to go to Chikowa, after two days there we went to the South Luangwa National Park.We went to this lodge called Marula. In the morning we went inside the park and saw everything except for lions and buffaloes. Later in the evening we went for the night drive and trust me it was freezing.But we did see leopards for the first time.and it was cool.Then they took us to the lodge. The next day we left for Chipata.

Giuseppe Carretta Wins Race

Hi guys its me, no not the twins but the one and only GIUSEPPE CARRETTA

I'am back to update you guys about life in Chengelo...

At Chengelo we have what we call Sports day. It is where 3 teams (Kaimbi, Ndale and Mukwa) compete in track events only. E.G Long jump, 800m, 1500,ETC.So I had only two races which were 800 meters and 1500 meters. My first race, which was 1500 meter, I came in second with a time 5:41 minutes. In 800 meters though I decided I had enough

of losing so I left the others by 3 and a 1/2 meters or so and got a time 2:32. My mum and my grandma were there to cheer me on. Damiano and my two cousin were there too. And to top it up a friend of mine came along too.

Dear friends, there was a problem with the Internet so we couldn't finish my previous post on Stig of the Dump review. Now I have done it all over again! In the first post I told you what this is all about.

Now I am Going to tell you why this book should be published.It should be published because there may be children or people who like a story of friendship between 2 different friends such as Stig who is a wild boy and Barney who is a normal boy.There also may be teachers who want to explain the stone age to the their students and this just the book for them.There also may be people who like adventure books in England so this the perfect book for them.
The rocks you see in the photos are the rocks that were used from real cavemen long ago our friend,Cris a geologist,gave us these rocks.

Stig of the dump

At school we finished doing read and respond of " Stig of the dump".The last activitie was that I had to imagine that I was a editor and that I had read the first edtion of "Stig of the dump" and I had to write if I wanted to publish it or not.

Magic Music.

I am lerning how to play the flauto traverso and it is very hard, but I am managing.

I have to practice almost every day. I am also lerning to play the normol recorder. The name of my teacher is Marey, she cames from France and she is a musicin, she is a very good at teaching music, she is funny when she teaches. I like her as a teacher beacuse she is gental.

I borrow her flauto traverso because I do not have one for now.

Marey cames to my house every Sunday morning or sometimes on Saturday morning so i have to be awake and ready for the lesson.

I like music very much, I was good playing the recorder, so the teacher Marie wanted to challange me giving to me her flauto traverso. I really like it so I decided to learn how to play the flauto.
