My Birthday

Hi people of world! It's a long time since I've written to you, but now here I am. It's D.C.D., Damiano.
Recently it was my birthday and I become 11 years old. We had the party on Wednesday 28th of September. My real birthday was on 29th of September.
When we had the party there were many people. We got presents, but the best part of it was playing with my friends, playing in the pool and outside on the swing and the cakes!
My friends were Ben, Sean, Shara, Kay Emily and Dorothy.
We played games in the pool sach as "Marco Polo", "Octopus", "Buldog" and sometimes splash-fightd or tricks in the pool.

If you don't know how they work then I'm going to tell you:

OCTOPUS works like this: one person is in the middle of the pool, the others are outside the pool. The person in the middle says "ocotpus",the kids outside have to swim across to the other side of the pool without the person in the middle catching them. If the person in the middle does catch them, then they stay rooted to the spot and try to catch the others. The game goes on until there is only one kid left outside.

I think you know MARCO POLO: everybody are in the pool, one person has to close his eys and say "marco", the person next to him have to say "polo". The person with the eyes closed has to
chase them, the kids saying "polo"have to run awayfrom him. The person with the eyes closed has two frogy eyes. Frogy eyes are when you can go under water and see for until you have to go up for air.

BULLDOG is the same as "octopus" only the person in the middle has to say "bulldog" then the kids outside can swim across the pool. the second rule of "bulldog" is that when someone is coughthe can move and doesn't need to stay rooted to the spot but still needs to catch people.

After all this fun, came the presents and the sweets. For my birthday I received: a computer game, 4 books, a torch light, 2 cards and a t-shirt.
On my real birthday we invited our friends over for dinner and we received new presents.
I had loads of fun on my birthday!

Italians make their Visit

Hi guys it's me Giuseppe!

OK I have some good news and some bad news The good news:My cousins came down from Italy for their very first time with my grandmother to visit us:).The bad news :I only had two weeks with them:(.OK so they came a week before school finished so yeah you get the point. Manu my cousin like it so much that next year he'll come down for 3 whole months and when he grows up he wants to be a farmer.WOW.

A few days after school finished we decided to go to Chikowa, after two days there we went to the South Luangwa National Park.We went to this lodge called Marula. In the morning we went inside the park and saw everything except for lions and buffaloes. Later in the evening we went for the night drive and trust me it was freezing.But we did see leopards for the first time.and it was cool.Then they took us to the lodge. The next day we left for Chipata.

Giuseppe Carretta Wins Race

Hi guys its me, no not the twins but the one and only GIUSEPPE CARRETTA

I'am back to update you guys about life in Chengelo...

At Chengelo we have what we call Sports day. It is where 3 teams (Kaimbi, Ndale and Mukwa) compete in track events only. E.G Long jump, 800m, 1500,ETC.So I had only two races which were 800 meters and 1500 meters. My first race, which was 1500 meter, I came in second with a time 5:41 minutes. In 800 meters though I decided I had enough

of losing so I left the others by 3 and a 1/2 meters or so and got a time 2:32. My mum and my grandma were there to cheer me on. Damiano and my two cousin were there too. And to top it up a friend of mine came along too.

The rocks you see in the photos are the rocks that were used from real cavemen long ago our friend,Cris a geologist,gave us these rocks.

Stig of the dump

At school we finished doing read and respond of " Stig of the dump".The last activitie was that I had to imagine that I was a editor and that I had read the first edtion of "Stig of the dump" and I had to write if I wanted to publish it or not.

Magic Music.

I am lerning how to play the flauto traverso and it is very hard, but I am managing.

I have to practice almost every day. I am also lerning to play the normol recorder. The name of my teacher is Marey, she cames from France and she is a musicin, she is a very good at teaching music, she is funny when she teaches. I like her as a teacher beacuse she is gental.

I borrow her flauto traverso because I do not have one for now.

Marey cames to my house every Sunday morning or sometimes on Saturday morning so i have to be awake and ready for the lesson.

I like music very much, I was good playing the recorder, so the teacher Marie wanted to challange me giving to me her flauto traverso. I really like it so I decided to learn how to play the flauto.

The first ever school trip to another school

One Wednesday my mum dicieded to go on a school trip to Alan's school. Alan thought that was a brilliant idea so next Monday, after humanities, we would all go to Chisero school. Chisero is the school that Alan built for the children of Chisero because they didn't have any school where to go and learn and play.

When that Monday came, also our friend Ben was there. So, adults in Alan's car and kids in Ben's car! Also Kay joined our trip, so Kay, Filippo, Ben and myself were in Ben's car and My mum, my dad and Erica (a Italian girl that is staying for a while with us) were in Alan's car.

To get to Chisero it was a long long ride and a bummpy one too. But at last we arrived. We found a open house as a school with a lots of children and teachers.

When we arrived they diecieded to sing for us some joyful songs. First they sang of their school than for Alan. He was embaresed when they sang for him, but very very happy.

After that we took a hike up a hill and then downhill to where we found a nice beautiful stream with freash and clear water,the children get the water from the stream for the school. From there we went all the way down to Chisero and back to the school. the walk was a great one. It was a hot hot day I couldn't bear it but it was really amazing. When we got back to Chisero we brought out the pencils and books for the children of the school. After that we had a little snack then back all the way to school.

From this trip I learned that not all the children can afford to go to school and that we are all different and we are lucky to have a school like the one here at Chipata.

Tell me... my story...

This week my mummy made us do an activity. It was about me telling you a story that happened to me in my past. Here it is......

My First Sleepover With Joe

One Saturday morning me,Filippo and Joe were at a kids club where we do fun and games and learn about Jesus and God. Later at the end of the club we entered Joe's car and Joe's mum drove us to Joe's house.There we got ready to swim in Joe's big swimming pool. We had so much fun but our fun was interrupted by lunch. For lunch we ate popcorn and juice. After lunch we got bored of swimming so we went inside to play with Joe's Nintendo. We played star wars Lego, we defeated Darth Vader and his evil clone troopers. Then we played with Joe's Guinea pig, he is so cute and cuddly and fluffy. We got bored again, so we went swimming. Later it was time for our supper. Here is were I forgot what we did. Well later we went to bed.

This was the best sleepover ever. I liked it because we played with Joe, my best friend Joe. He is cool and knows what to play and when to play and he is great at saying jokes.

I miss Joe very mush he is now in Canada if only he could come back here and stay.

Tell me... my story...

At school this week i had to right a story of a important life event and the story starts.

My puppy and me

I wanted a pappy and i begged my mum and dad but they never allowed me to have a pappy.

When my other dog (Elly) was having puppies i wanted one.

I also had chosen the name for him. It was B-dawg but still my mum never allowed me to keep one.

Then one day my mum decided that i could have a puppy.

I choose the puppy but sadly he died so i choose a new puppy and renamed it Rex. We are still going to give all the others away.

My puppy is still to young to be trained and i am waiting for the other puppies to be gone so Rex will be concentrated in the training.

Arthur High King of Britain

I have just finished the book "Arther High King of Britain".

It is a nice and interesting story for a book , even if it is a bit hard to read and I think it's for children from13 ot 19 years old, I still liked it very much!

The author of this book is my favourite writer called Michal Morpurgo.

You can also go on his web site called http://www.michaelmorpurgo.com/ you can find all his books on it and a lots of interesting things about him .

My favourite character in the book was Lancelot because he si honest and kind to his lord Arthur and to everyone.

The worst character is Mordred because he kills Arthur.

My favourite part of the book is when Arthur gets Excalibur from the rock.The book had a lot of nice pictures, all done by Michel Foreman.

My name is Filippo, my dog Ellie had 7 puppies, 4 are female and 2 are male, unfortunately one died so now we have just 6 puppies and we found a house for all of them, I'm going to miss them a lot. But mummy and daddy allowd to keep one puppy for me and his name is Rex.Rex is a kind and cute puppy.

I love my puppy Rex and he loves me by liking me.

We are going to give all the puppies away exept for Rex. My mum bought for me the book "Be the Pack Leader, transform your dog ... and your life" from Cesar Millan that thas ''THE DOG WHISPERER''on nat geo wild. The book will help me train my puppy.

Journey to the River Sea

Hello I'm Damiano. I read "Journey to the River Sea" this month, the author is Eva Ibboston. This story is based on an adventure in the jungle. Maia, the main character, is an orphan child who is taken in by an in English family living in the Amazon in a little town colled Manaus. They only took Maia because of her money, she's very rich. Maia is kept as a prisoner until she finds an indian boy who can help her. She befriends the indian boy and they embark on a periluos journey up river to the Xnati which is an indian tribe.

My most favorite character was Finn because he would give up a luxzirios life in England to live with the indians. My most favorite part was when Maia meet Finn in the jungle for the first time. I hope when you read this book you will feel the same way I felt when I read the book. My feeling was sad and happy because they trumphied.

My Crossstiches

When Giuseppe was born Mummy started to do crosstiches. She stopped when we were born.Then in 2008 she started again.I got interested in it and I asked mummy if I could try. So we started. I decided to do a heart. Filippo decided to do Avatar, but then he saw another cartoon and liked that one better so he only did a face. At first it was fun but then it started to get hard but in the end the job was worth well doing it. After we finish the croosstiches Mummy made them as book cover, then put them around our diary .

We all had fun on doing crosstiches as an extra school activity, it kept the boys concentrate and calm for a little while!

Our Teacher Alan

Alan is our teacher and teaches us Humanities. He is very funny at it. He is now Teaching us geography. We are still on term 1 because he comes only every Mondays and Wednesdays because that's his only free day. On every activity there is an extra activity that we can do and that extra activity is always cool and awesome. Alan always helps us when we are in trouble.

My cat Garfield

One night, when we were eating, we saw Garfild sitting in a basket happily, we were all laughing so much because he was looking funny.
Garfield is my cat and he looks just like Garfield in the movies, he eats a lot and he likes to sleep on the couch. My Garfield has the cutest 'meaw' in the world.

Cristhmas Miracle

I woke up at 5:00 in the morning on December the 25. I went to wake my parents up, then my brothers.

We went straight to the living room in our pijamias and got our presents, we were about to open them when our dad said "Stop! wait a minute!" and he went to fecth the camera. He made photos of us holding our wrapped presents then our unwrapped presents.

I got a present that I had been wanting for over 4 months, It was "Diary of a Wimpy kid do-it-yourself book". I even recived a new lego, it is the lego city house. After, my mum and dad went back to bed and me and my brothers build the city house. We did turns building the city house. When we finished we put it in the lego town.

It was the best Cristhmas I ever had!

LUWAWA FOREST LODGE

Hey I'am back (Giuseppe that is, not my brothers!)Well... do you need a holiday of relaxation, fun good veiws, adventure, water sports, biking and camping ALL AT THE SAME TIME ?Well Luwawa Forest Lodge is the perfect location. It is located just a few 50 kilometers north of Kusugu in Malawi.There are two ways going there, the first one is bumpy and trust me you do not want to take the first one because when we were leaving we accidently took the first one so we thought we were lost so we had to ask a few locals!!! Yes it is shorter but it takes longer so please take the second one which is longer but you take shorter time.(and please do'nt under ANY circumstances get lost!) When we got there we went to the campsite and there was no special site for the campers to camp there, all there were little area's were you would camp and most of them were beside the road but the road was't a tar road it was a dirt road which turned into a small path into the villages so barely any one used that road (Pheeew!!!)

The first thing we did was that we went walking up the hill. Our destination was Kamwe fire tower. Its a tower which looks out for fire (just in case you were wondering.) We had to turn back because of footpains(the mysterius cause of these unknown desise was tierdness!)so we had turn back. After some spagetti for lunch (typical) we went biking while Dad and Damiano went to archery.The biking was great and the veiws were great.The next day me and my Dad went for a second time up Kamwe fire tower and it was so foggy that we went right under the hill of the tower without noticing so we went for another 2 kilometers where we asked the locals the right direction so they told us we missed it ! so then we made it (finally!)Then we did archery were Filippo ad I got a bullseye(Yeah) Then canoeing was also mum's faoverite . I went kayaking and also dad tried it out! We all enjoyed it and i hope you do also!

LEGO-LAND

Hello I am Giuseppe.The Lego-Land inspiration started about 8 years ago when i recived a small box of legos, but at that time i never knew that 8 years later I would recive so many legos to create a massive city (Well at least they did'nt come all at once!).They came as birthday presents, as christmas presents or our Granny's would come from Italy and they would bring them (If we ask them to That is!) Or we would just get them from the internet.

We have countined to collect them ever since we got those lego's in the box. We used to get all kinds of Lego's but now since we have a teriffic Lego city it's quite impossibe to not be impressed with it!! BYE FROM GIUSEPPE
